To Minimize Damage:

* Seek reputable and professional cleaning services right away.

* Remove everything you can especially metal items, out of the water as soon as possible.

* Take photos and make notes on noticeable damage.

Safety First!

* Do not turn on ceiling fans if there has been water in the ceiling

* Do not use your household vacuum to remove water

* Do not use TVs or other household appliances while standing on wet
carpets or floors, especially not on wet concrete floors.

* Do not enter rooms where ceilings are sagging from retained water.

If It Came From The Sewer

* Stay out of affected areas.

* Treat all wet areas as if they could contaminate

* Turn off the HVAC system if it is safe to enter the area of your
thermostat

If It Is Not From The Sewer And There Are No Electrical Hazards

* If it’s a plumbing leak, turn off the water

* Remove cardboard boxes – lettering dyes transfer to the carpet

* Place aluminum foil or wood blocks between furniture legs and wet
carpeting.

* Turn air conditioning on for maximum drying in summer.

* Remove Oriental rugs from wet flooring.

* Remove valuable paintings, photos and art objects to a safe, dry
place.

* Open and place luggage in sunlight to dry if possible.

* Gather loose items, toys, etc. from floors.

* Remove wet fabrics and dry as soon as possible.

* Remove books, magazines or other coloured items on wet carpets or
floors.

* Do not use your household vacuum to remove water.

* Do not use TVs or other household appliances while standing on wet
carpets or floors, especially not on wet concrete floors.

* Do not enter rooms where ceilings are sagging from retained water.
